Writing Circles

Fee: In your first month, join our writing circles for free, when you sign up.

In Writing Circles, we connect and practice writing. We come together as a supportive group, on a regular schedule to achieve our writing goals.  Structured as timed writing intervals with periods for creative exchange to ask questions, discuss, and share our work.

Bring your work in progress or a blank page and come ready to write. Join us for all three hours, or drop-in at any time to support your writing practice. Sessions are moderated by our Course Lead.

Memoir Writing Course

Whether you’re 18 or 80, you can write a memoir. During this three-week course, you will explore the shape of the writer’s memoir, how to gather material, narration techniques, and how to write for strength. The course will include discussion, examples, and writing exercises. In the end, you will have a solid grasp of what is memoir-worthy and how to take it to the next level. 

Novel Writing Course

The author of Drawn from Memory, Laura Hatosy, will guide you through the various stages. Laura will cover ideation, outlining, character development, drafting, and self- and evaluation editing.

Pen to Paper: The Fundamentals Course

Your Zero Draft Course

If you have an idea for a novel but haven’t started working on it yet, this course is for you. We’ll channel our inner Anne Lamott and get a crappy first draft onto the page. This course is focused on writing a quick, messy draft that gets the story in place.

Write Your Screenplay Course

This course is for anyone who wants to write a feature-length screenplay. Most screenwriting work is accomplished before writing the screenplay, and this course is structured to give you a strong foundation to complete the first draft. This is a step-by-step approach to developing an idea, creating a treatment and step outline, and writing the first thirty pages of your screenplay. This course aims to deepen your knowledge of structure, giving you a strong foundation to complete the first draft of your screenplay.

Coaching Circle with Asa Sutton

In this 1:1 Coaching Circle, Asa Sutton will review your writing and share feedback. These 60-minute sessions will develop your writing practice and improve your craft.

Writers can use this time to develop ideas, get feedback on up to one chapter, set writing goals, solve plot problems, or create a publishing plan.

Constructive criticism is essential to improving your novel and writing.  A critique group is one of the best ways to get the feedback you need.
